Alex will be demonstrating and teaching the fine art of stone carving and finishing. Basics of stone carving - initial roughing out, developing a form, final finishing and polishing are presented during the course. Basic tools are included in the class fee. But students will need to purchase their own safety gear. All levels of skill are more than welcome. Please call for more details. Once class has begun there are No refunds.

Syllabus – After-School Stone Carving

• Session 1 Introduction to types of stone - Intro to tools (hammers, chisels, and rasps) - Safety discussion - Start carving!
• Session 2 History of Sculpture - Egypt - Carving time (walk around for individual assistance / questions)
• Session 3 History of Sculpture - Aztec - Carving time (walk around for individual assistance / questions)
• Session 4 History of Sculpture - Europe - Carving time (walk around for individual assistance / questions)
• Session 5 History of Sculpture - India & Asia - Carving time (walk around for individual assistance / questions)
