Seminar Schedule – 2.5 hour hands-on lecture
This class will be structured as a more in depth look at the Metal Coating process and other fun finishes that are easily achievable on metal or non-metallic surfaces. In this class, we first cast resin objects and turn then them into metal looking pieces of art. We will show you the multiple steps of the Metal Coatings as well as tips and tricks to really make it look like metal.
Learn many aspects of patination in this lecture and demonstration that will cover putting the finishing touches on all types of 3 dimensional works. Highlighting Sculpt Nouveau's metal coating system, this lecture will show a wide sampling of the endless finishes that can be produced. The proper preparation of almost any type of material including plaster, wood, metals and resins will be covered. Additional texturing and application of metal coat will be demonstrated. Time will be spent on adding the various patinas to the metal coat, this includes chemical patina, pigment patina, color washes, incorporating metal leaf and powder pigments to create a wider variety of finishes. This will be followed up with a discussion of appropriate sealant and some hints for mounting and presentation. Questions and comments related to the participants particular projects are viewed as an important part of this lecture and are welcome at the end of the seminar.
