Speckled stoneware clay with impalpable grog 0-0.2 mm. Designed for artistic ceramics, it contains melting minerals that develop a seductive surface with dark spots of different sizes and shades that stand out in an ivory-white matrix. Its high grog content provides excellent behaviour during drying and firing. Decoration with transparent glazes is ideal to enhance the vividness of the speckled effect. Available in extruded body (moist form).
The vividness of the spots of LUNA clay is caused by natural minerals that may include traces of other minerals that can rehydrate after firing at a low temperature and cause flaking. To avoid it, it is recommended to fire the biscuit at a higher temperature (1050-1080ºC / Cone 04) and increase the soak time. If you work directly in single firing, the problem does not arise.
