Highly acclaimed sculptor, Ailene Fields, will be demonstrating and teaching the fine art of stone carving and finishing. Basics of stone carving - initial roughing out, developing a form, final finishing and polishing are presented during the course. There is a choice of softer stone or marble. tools, sharpening and maintenance are all covered. Participants should end the course with the basic knowledge necessary to work on their own. Instruction is individually oriented so that all level of experience will benefit from this great class. More advanced students can also learn to carve with our air compressor. Students will choose their own project and stone . Studio time during store hours is included in the class fee, along with one 3 hour evening class a week with the instructor. Basic tools are included in the class fee. But students will need to purchase their own stone. (Usually between $35-$150) All levels of skill are more than welcome. Please call for more details. Once class has begun there are No refunds.
