Sculpting the Figure in Clay with Lori Shorin
Working directly from a live model and using a step by step approach, students can choose to sculpt the full figure, torso, or portrait bust.
In this course students of all levels will sculpt from direct observation of a model in one pose over 4 class sessions. Students will learn a logical approach to developing the observational skills needed to create an accurate and dynamic figure sculpture. No previous experience is necessary.
The sculpture will be created in water-based or oil based clay.
Emphasis will be on understanding proportion, gesture, anatomy, and clay modeling. Each student will receive quality instruction with a special attention to maximizing individual potential.
The teaching method will include, sculpting demonstrations, individual instruction, and group discussions.
Each step will be demonstrated and guided throughout the class. The small class structure will enable more one on one attention to students
