Each step will be demonstrated and guided throughout the class. The small class structure will enable more one on one attention to students

  1. Introduction to the history, styles, and significance of bas relief sculptures, focusing on representations of the female torso throughout art history.
  2. Examination of the anatomical structure of the female torso, including proportions, muscle groups, and skeletal features crucial for accurate representation in bas relief.
  3. Exploring principles of design, composition, and aesthetics specific to bas relief sculptures. Emphasis on creating visually compelling compositions of the female torso in relief.
  4. Introduction to the tools and materials essential for bas relief sculpting, including various types of stone, clay, carving tools, and techniques for achieving texture and depth.
