250802 Stone Carving Class Saturday 10am-1pm August 2025

In this 4-week course, sculptor Alex Khalifa will guide students through the fundamentals of carving stone by hand. The class is open to all experience levels, with personalized instruction to ensure each participant can progress at their own pace. From the initial block-in phase to an overview of final touches and polishing, by the end of the course participants will gain the knowledge and hands-on experience to continue working both independently and with continued guidance.

Extensive open studio hours offer carvers the opportunity to continue working on their sculptures between class sessions and on their own time. A variety of tools including hammers, chisels, rasps, and rifflers are available for use during both class and open studio hours. The store has a diverse range of stones, available in various sizes, shapes, colors, textures, and hardness to help students conceptualize their own projects. (Please note: stone and safety gear must be purchased separately, with a 10% discount available for all students).
