Welcome to Figure Sculpture; beginners and masters alike!
This 6 week class explores the fundamental techniques of figure sculpture as a tradition working directly with the live model. Individualized instruction is tailored to ability in a relaxed atmosphere suitable for all levels of experience. Emphasis is placed upon practical study and application of traditional proportional systems, working with a proportional armature, clay modeling techniques, and understanding how our underlying anatomical structure informs our universal and individual physical characteristics.
Included Materials:
18" Figure Armature
5 Blocks of Le Beau Touché pro-grade oil-based clay (plasticine)
Model fee
Bring your tool kit & an 18” Erlebacher Armature (if you have them) these and additional tools are always available for purchase at TCS. Remember to wear clothes you do not mind getting dirty,
Please note that as figures will be sculpted on an armature, they must be molded and cast in order to permanently preserve the form; workshops are available through TCS. Alternatively, provided armatures and clay are durable, reusable, and well suited to continued independent work on the class project and/or re-use during subsequent figure-study efforts/classes.
