TCS Classes 200113 Sculpting the Figure With Lori Shorin

$625.00

8 Session Figure Sculpting Class Mondays from 5-8pm (see dates below)

In this course students of all levels will sculpt from direct observation of a live model in one long pose over 8 weeks. Students will learn a logical approach to developing the observational skills needed to create an accurate and dynamic figure sculpture . The figure will be created on an armature using either water-based or oil-base clay. Artists may choose an armature size between 18” to 36” (see description below for more information about clay and armature selections). Emphasis will be on understanding, proportion, gesture, anatomy, and clay modeling. Each student will receive quality instruction with a special attention to maximizing individual potential.

This course is designed so the students will have time to develop all aspects of the figure to a very high level of finish, including the expressive qualities of the hands and feet. The teaching method will include, sculpting demonstrations, individual instruction, group observational discussions, inspirational reading geared towards inner reflection to cultivate focused creativity, as well as presentations of contemporary and old masters sculptors.
