Modeling from Life & Practical Anatomy: The Long Pose on Sundays!!!
This is an 8 week class that meets on Sundays. 10am-1pm (see scheduled dates below)
The ‘long pose’ offers the opportunity to create a deliberate and considered portrait of an individual model – focusing on the relationship between given canonical proportions and the idiosyncratic of volumetric expression of an individual human body. Students receive instruction in building their own proportional armatures and constructing a refined figure over the course of a single 8-week pose. Students will focus on deepening their understanding of human proportions, anatomical structure and individual specificity. Class discussions will center on developing anatomical, proportional, and gestural fluency.
Students may work in either traditional or oil-based clay. Materials and tools are not included in the class fee; a basic armature kit will be available for purchase. Please bring your kit, a set of Journeymen’s pliers, and a #97 Kemper fettling knife to the first day of classes.
Please note that figures sculpted on armatures must be cast to preserve; workshops are available through TCS.
