Since the Renaissance through to the French Enlightenment, from Da Vinci to Houdon, artists have been preoccupied with the accurate representation of the human figure, and "truth to nature."  Painters as well as sculptors have found immeasurable value in the in-depth study of the human figure, through the study of the "Ecorche."

In this course, we will begin to understand the human figure from the inside out, developing an understanding of the skeletal architecture, as well as the muscular function and design that makes up an integrated human form.  A must for sculptors and painters alike, who desire an in-depth understanding of the fundamentals- as well as the complexities- of depicting the human figure.

Materials Needed:  Sulphur-free oil clay (soft/medium); modeling tools; figure armature (choice of 18" or 24".)

All anatomical references and support material will be provided. A live model may be provided during the course for additional instructional purposes (for an added fee) if there is enough interest to do so.
